LIVING WITH INVISALIGN® ALIGNERS

Invisalign® is a popular corrective dental treatment that is an alternative to more traditional treatments such as braces. If you have Invisalign® aligners, you must still follow certain rules relating to what you can eat, drink, and how to live your life while wearing Invisalign® aligners. The following is a guide to how to live your life while wearing your Invisalign® every day.

EATING, DRINKING AND LIVING WITH INVISALIGN® ALIGNERS

Do you need to watch what you eat and drink when you are wearing Invisalign® aligners? Yes–and no. Invisalign® aligners are well known for giving their wearers greater freedom than people with traditional braces or even traditional retainers. This is because Invisalign® aligners are designed to be easily taken in and out when you want to eat, drink, or do something that requires your Invisalign® trays to be removed. This means that you can keep eating and drinking all of your favourite foods, including sticky foods, crunchy foods and foods you would otherwise normally not be able to handle if you had traditional braces. Just remember not to eat or drink when you have your aligners in your mouth, as the food or beverage can damage the aligners.

You may also be wondering whether or not you can brass and floss normally when you have Invisalign® aligners. The answer to that question is: yes! You can take the trays out to brush and floss, making it possible to keep your teeth healthy without having to worry about breaking bracket wires or other issues.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I WEAR THEM?

You will need to wear your Invisalign® aligners for about 20 to 22 hours a day to see the best results.

Every one to two weeks, you will get a new aligner based on the roadmap created for your Invisalign® treatment plan. At the end of this period, you will receive a new set of aligners to use rather than your old pair. In addition to switching sets every 1-2 weeks, you will need to schedule progress check-ups every 6 to 8 weeks (or sooner, depending on the circumstances) for a professional to check your progress, and dental health, and give you the next set of your aligners.

HOW TO CLEAN YOUR ALIGNERS

You must regularly clean your aligners to keep them clean, fresh and in great shape. The best way to clean them is to rinse them out every night and give them a gentle brush with your toothbrush to clean them up. It’s important to always clean them before you go to bed, so make it a habit to clean your aligners before you put them in for the rest of the night.

From the start Dr. Chahal and the team took into consideration my high anxiety about coming to the dentist due to childhood traumas of past dentists treating me as just another "patient" But the entire team from Reception, Hygienist, Dental assistant and Dentist made me feel empowered to keep my Dental hygiene strong and wanting to up keep with my appointments. They see you as a person and make you feel welcome and comfortable always checking in on you while the appointment moves along. I couldn't recommend a better Dental practice and truly feel all his employees are passionate about every patient giving them the best service you could expect from what once scared me to go for cleanings. I now look forward because they have erased all fear from what others have done, they make me want to do my best with my dental hygiene and give me knowledge about the importance of what they do allowing me to be part of my dental health. Before I allowed fear to detour me from coming to the dentist, but now I am a strong believer in putting my dental hygiene in top priority as it plays a huge factor in our physical and mental health. If you have pain in your mouth it stops you from enjoying the food that nourishes our body which can lead to even more problems. So if you have had poor dental experiences in the past, fear to come in because you've put it off for so long or just want to experience what a dentist is suppose to truly be I recommend Oxford Family Dental for all ages and will continue recommending them to all my friends and family.
