As of 2024, the Government of Canada launched the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) to make dental care more accessible for eligible individuals and their families.

With one-third of Canadians lacking dental insurance and many avoiding dental care due to financial concerns, the CDCP aims to address this gap. However, it is important to note that the benefit isn’t intended to replace existing private or employment-related dental insurance but to assist those in need.

The plan is rolling out gradually, with seniors eligible in May 2024 and full access for all eligible Canadians coming in 2025.
