Onlays and inlays are used when teeth are damaged too much for a filling and too little for a crown. An inlay fills in the space between the rounded edges (cusps) at the centre of the tooth, while an onlay covers one or more cusps or the entire surface of a tooth.

To prepare your teeth for an inlay or an onlay, a couple of things need to be done by your Port Coquitlam dentist. First, we will remove any dental decay in order to make room. An impression of the tooth will then be made and prepared in a laboratory. While the inlay or onlay is being made, a temporary filling will be put in place.
